Artist Member – K. Harvey Camlin

My background is in art education (University of Southern Maine, Portland) and visual design/graphics (UMASS, Dartmouth). I have taken courses and workshops at Harvard University Extension School, Cambridge, Massachusetts; Maine College of Art, Portland; Heartwood College of Art, Kennebunk; Sanctuary Arts, Eliot; and at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine.

I practice what I asked of my students in their art-making; take risks and remain open to ideas of all kinds and from all times. I retired from my position as an art educator in MSAD #35, South Berwick/Eliot, Maine in 2014, and now work from my home studio space in Wells.

Artist Statement

I work in a variety of mediums, pure and mixed, to best express my inner world or to describe the outer world we all share. For me, limiting myself to one medium, one style or one form feels much like speaking with a limited vocabulary. Acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, graphite and ink are the mediums used most often, and I work in a variety of forms from drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, and sculpture using found object.
