The Spotlight Artist for our newest exhibit, “Boats, Buoys & Birds“ is Ann McKee!
After spending the summers of her youth exploring the wilds of Northern Wisconsin, Ann has always had great curiosity for the wonders of the natural world and a desire for exploration. Her life is a dual quest to better understand biological science as it relates to the human condition and artistic self-expression; she finds that each endeavor is necessary for the other. Her scientific work focuses on the workings and vulnerabilities of the human brain, a calling that gives her great fulfillment and a unique perspective on life. At the same time, she cherishes being outside and painting the landscape. She finds that the joys and challenges of landscape painting allow her a brief glimpse into the spirituality of existence and the ephemeral mind. She is endlessly inspired by the beauty of the Maine seacoast. With each painting, she strives to get closer to the richness of the landscape that inspired it: “a quest never satisfied but a very pleasant journey all the same.”
You can see more of Ann’s work along with other participating KAA artists’ fine art at the Gallery now through August 12th.
Admission to the show and the reception is free.
